cmrm-Ramadan Running Club
CMRM Ramadan Running and Walking Club – All Welcome
A group of runners within the Claremont Main Road Mosque Congregation will continue to run/train during the month of Ramadan. They plan to run most evenings post-Tarawih prayers, at 8:45pm and would like to extend an invitation to all other runners/aspirant runners to join them.
The post-Tarawih running will commence from Saturday night (21 July), starting from outside the mosque. We aim to cover about 6 - 8km in distance and hope to maintain this distance on a regular basis especially during the week. However, on the weekends we aim to run a little further in distance and longer in time duration, aiming for a distance of 10-12km.
To cater for people running at a different pace, there will initially be two groups running at around 5 - 6 min per kilometer (km) and 7min - 8min per km. Dependent on interest and demand, we could expand the running groups to cater for all eager to join the evening runs.
The run route will vary, including a run towards Wynberg and back to CMRM, but alternative routes include towards UCT, and through Newlands and Rondebosch.
The running club will ‘run’ every Tues/Thur/Sat/Sun from 8:45pm from outside the CMRM
Change of clothes and kit may be stored within the mosque for safekeeping. Also remember wear brightly coloured/reflective gear whilst running, and if possible, acquire a headlight for visibility at night.
According to one of the organizers Dr Salih Solomon “The sessions won't be too intense, but the ambition is to keep our bodies moving during the month, as well as retain some level of fitness in preparation for the remainder of the running calendar year’. Any running club queries may be directed to him, contactable via email and mobile phone:
